Mountain Valley Arts Council (MVAC) was first incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1970. Since that time, numerous changes have taken place in the operation, but the mission has remained unchanged: “to aid, encourage, advise, and correlate all activities dedicated to the promotion of cultural arts in Marshall County, Alabama, and neighboring communities, as may be found feasible, and to integrate such activities into the total life of the communities served by MVAC.”
Through membership dues, donations and grants, we strive to create a community full of art.
Welcome to Claire Richards!
Claire Richards has been hired as the new Marketing Manager at MVAC. She will be reaching out to local businesses for sponsorships and promoting the many art-related programs MVAC does in the community. Come meet Claire at the August artist reception for Bogdan Ghita’s woodcut prints exhibit on August 8th from 5 – 7 PM at the MVAC Gallery, 300 Gunter Avenue.
Claire is a graduate of Mississippi State University and has worked at High Point University in NC, National Skeet Shooting Association, and North Mississippi Education Consortium among others. She enjoys anything outdoors, all sports, painting, pottery, theatre, musicals, and introducing new things to others. She finds the wonder, excitement and joy of discovery priceless and truly heartwarming.
Claire and her husband, Kyle Richards, are moving to Guntersville with their three spitfire girls, Neely (4), Riley (2) and Charlie (1). Their girls will enjoy a lot more visits with their cousins, children of Dr. Aaron and Mollie George. Claire commented, “we are so excited to make Guntersville and Marshall County our forever home, and I look forward to working with MVAC and its community impact for all generations!”
Other MVAC staff includes Betsy Brown who is the Gallery Manager. She has been with MVAC for three years.
